City still in the title race, Newcastle thump Southampton 4-2:

Manchester City closed the gap at the top of the EPL table down to 12 points on local rivals Manchester United with a comfortable 2-0 home win against 3rd placed Chelsea.

Defensive midfielder Yaya Toure and Argentinan striker Carlos Tevez scored the goals for City as they won a vital match at home to ensure that they do not lose more ground on the EPL title. 

Placed into the corner: Yaya Toure broke the deadlock for City in the 63rd minute.

Frank Lampard had a penalty well saved by England's no.1 goalkeeper Joe Hart before both goals in the 52nd minute, and Chelsea did not get the job done.

Rare: Lampard stepped up to take a penalty for Chelsea, but his shot was well saved by Joe Hart.

Denied: Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart did well to keep the score at 0-0.
